Happy Thursday, Everyone! It has been raining here all week, so that makes it perfect paper crafting weather ;) And since I have been thinking about the new school year (ds is a Senior this year) and dreaming of all the possibilities that lie ahead for him, I created this card.
I started with BAZZILL card stock for the base of this 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card. The pattered paper is from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff's Vintage Sheet Music FREEBIE! (click the link for a FREE download) I love the way this paper looks old and smudged. Of course, I had to give it some extra smudges with my TH Distress inks...but I digress...What I think is the COOLEST part of this card is the gears! Did you think they were metal? Guess again. They are just plain ol' Staples cream card stock, colored with copper and gold alcohol inks, then sanded and distressed with-you guessed it-more TH Distress inks. These cool gears are also part of a LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF svg set (STEAMPUNK). I used my cricut and SCAL to cut them out and Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere them with dimension.

Hi Everyone! I was in a crafty mood today and entered a challenge at a site called Paper Hoarders. For the challenge, we had to use lace on a tag, so this is what I made:
I have been wanting to use this dress form from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF on a project and today I figured out what I wanted to do with it. I cut out the pieces using my Cricut and SCAL, but if you don't have a Cricut or SCAL you can use the jpeg printables that are included in these sets. I used Distress Inks on the tag, doily sash, measuring tape and the buttons.
I stamped CREATE in the corner (Invoke), embossed the lower edge with a cuttlebug folder then glued all my pieces down with Helmar Acid Free glue and used Liquid Scrap Dots (for dimension) to adhere the buttons. I wrapped the spool with some embroidery thread and attached it to the tag with various ribbons, threads and yarns.

Dreamy Journal

Hi Everyone! Are you all having a great summer? It is hard to believe that we are almost through our first week in August already. YIKES! Since summer is a time for dreaming and being creative, I decorated this small journal for recording ideas, memories and dreams. What would you put into such a journal? Maybe lists of places you would like to visit, a diary of what you do on any particular day, a drawing or two? Maybe some photographs or movie ticket stubs to remind you of a special date? Perhaps you might record a poem, or a song that is special to you - the possibilities are endless!
Here are the quick details of this easy to do journal:
First, I printed and colored and image from this digi stamp set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff . I used my scalloped nesties to die cut the image and the border. I layered the scalloped pieces and patterned paper onto the cover. Next, I added a Prima flower and a couple of leaves along with a piece of printed ribbon. A punched corner for the top and done! As I am sitting here looking at it, I am thinking I could have tied some ribbons to the spiral binding for a little added texture and color. Hmmmm...maybe I will take it back to the craft room and do that...
This was a quick, simple project that would make a cute gift or something nice to keep for yourself and you can buy this or any other stamp set this weekend at Mygrafico for 40% off!

A Project (FINALLY) and a SALE!

Wow! It has been a long time since my last blog post! Life has gotten busy (in a good way) and has taken me away from my hobbies. My family and I have all just gotten home from an almost month long vacation, visiting family and friends from Virginia Beach to Tennessee, to Eastport Maine and lots more in between and back home again. Well, for the day anyway, till we make our way to camp for the weekend where it will hopefully be cooler...
I have a fun project to share with you today that I made before our summer adventures began. I decided to send a box of goodies to 3 of my favorite girls and was inspired to make the box look like part of the present.
I took a shoe box and primed it with gesso, then gave it a coat of a mixture of different color blue paints. I had some colored images and a few pieces of patterned paper left over from other projects and put them all together to decorate my box. All pieces were glued with assorted HELMAR glues.I painted a lighter shade of blue on the areas I wanted to write my addresses on.I really like how this digi image looks like a postage stamp. It is one of my favorites from the Pretty Primitive set at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff :)
More favorite LSS - these are from the Doodle Flowers set.I used these Doodle Flower favorites to cover over a "mess up". LOL The patterned paper is from a paper kit in Lindsay's SHOP HANDMADE store, studio g stamp and a bird that I bought somewhere in my earlier travels...These were cut from scraps using Tim Holtz dies. More die cut digi papers from Lindsay's Shop Handmade store, along with a studio g stamp.
This was such a fun project to do, and really didn't take much time at all. The best part is that you can buy these papers and stamps or anything thing else at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff (at Mygrafico) on sale today and tomorrow!!!

Comfort Cookies

We all have comfort food, don't we? That food that whenever you eat it, it just makes everything better. At least for a while. And I think that food can be different, depending on what kind of comfort we are seeking, depending on what kind of memories are tied to it.
I have loved cooking (and eating) since I was little. My mom loved to bake. One particular treat I have been thinking about a lot lately is my mom's Pineapple Cookies. I remember her making them; so light and fluffy and mmmm...I even remember when she gave me her brand new recipe box with all the blank cards and asked me to copy some of her favorites onto them (she always hated her handwriting). I remember sitting on the floor at our coffee table, copying recipes and feeling so important.
As I was doing some spring cleaning last week, I stumbled on a box of her old recipes and cook books, and yes, you guessed it, I found the Pineapple Cookie recipe! I was happy and sad all at the same time. I decided to go ahead make a batch. I wasn't sure how they would turn out. Would they taste as good as I remembered? I followed the recipe, just like she would have; hand mixer, flour sifter, and really using a teaspoon to drop the batter onto the cookie sheet - no fancy cookie scoops in my mom's kitchen! Well, not back then anyway...
As the cookies were cooling, I made a cup of tea. You can't have cookies without tea, you know. Mmmm...they were delicious. They were every bit as good as I remembered. Except my mom wasn't here, and I was lonely. So I packed up a basket filled with cookies and tea and took my treasure to visit a friend and share with her. And isn't that what comfort is really all about?

Here is the recipe for those of you who would like to try it:

Pineapple Cookies

3/4 cup Crisco
1 cup crushed pineapple, drained
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Walnuts (optional)
Cream shortening and sugar, add beaten eggs. Add pineapple, then flour, sifted together with the salt, soda and powder. Drop by teaspoons full and bake at 400 degrees F about 10 to 12 minutes.

Cute as a Button

Hi Everyone! Happy Friday! Today I made this "canvas". It measures 8 1/2 x 11. OK, really, it is just plain ol' cardboard - probably a ceral box, but "canvas" sounds way more artsy. :) I started with this cute Owl Tree stamp from Lindsay's ShopHandmade Store and it's only $1!! I had it in my stash and thought it would be fun to use again. You can also find tons of fun stamps, papers and SVGs in her Mygrafico Shop.
The buttons on the tree were made with a sizzix die that I found at Joann's (40% off) and some hemp. If you don't have a button die, you can make your own buttons with a paper punch. Happy Thursday! I am home again after a much enjoyed vacation. We spent time in Las Vegas, Arizona and California. It was a wonderful trip, but it is always good to be back home. Today I have a set of ATCs to share with you. I made these for a swap at the Stamp Shack using one of the gears in the Steampunk SVG Set from LINDAY'S STAMP STUFF. I have had the "wind up man" stamp for a long time, just waiting for the right time to use him. I'm not even sure where I got him, and he isn't labeled, but I just knew I had to have him. :) The book pages are from a novel called Saratoga Trunk. ( I didn't read it, but it sounded kind of "steampunky".) LOL I used Tim Holtz distress inks to age the pages and added special embellishments bought on a trip to Texas. Wow! I can't believe it's Thursday already! Our vacation is over and Ralph and I will be traveling home when you all read this. We have had a fantastic vacation, but are ready to get back home today. Here is a picture of Ralph in Death Valley at a place called "Artists Pallet". It was beautiful! The colors on the rocks are natural, probably occurring from a combination of water, minerals, and volcanic activity.
Next is a card I made for Jacob to give to one of his teachers. I used the School Rules Set and the School Papers Set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff to make this one. On Vacation

Happy Thursday, Everyone! It is for me- I'm on vacation!! Yesterday, hubby and I visited the Grand Canyon. It was a "balmy" 17 degrees F. Brrr....I thought we left that kind of weather back in the Northeast, but it seems it has followed us here. In spite of the cold weather, we had a fabulous time. Words cannot describe the beauty we saw here. Today we are going to Hoover Dam for a tour. We caught a glimpse of it yesterday on the way back from the Canyon.

Posh 'n Trendy Minimalist Cards

Happy Thursday! I'm excited to be posting some cards today made with a new digital stamp set from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF! It's called Posh 'n Trendy and I just LOVE it! These cards were so simple, I made a set of four. All I did was open a blank page in my printshop program, "divide" my page in half horizontally and vertically. This gave me guides to use so I would know where to put my images. You can print two cards per page this way. Next I centered my digi stamp and sentiments on the pages and printed them out. Then cut each sheet in half and fold. Color the images and blend with Goo Gone. Add a few pieces of self sticking bling along with a flower and in just a few minutes, you have a nice set of cards. They can be given as a set for a gift or kept to have on hand to send to a friend. I just love the minimalist look - I've seen this type of card in several magazines lately and wanted to make some myself and thought this was the perfect stamp set to use. Let me know what you think. More Snow

Stormy Weather

Since it has been snowing, literally all week, I thought it might be fun to post a few pics of the snow storms. These were taken Tuesday evening, (it was totally dark, believe it or not) on my way home from picking up my car at the garage. I didn't have a tripod with me, so these were taken from my car - you know - just playing around. It was really snowing hard, but in two of the shots you can't see that it is snowing. Today it is snowing so hard, I don't dare go outside with my camera!

Linday's Stamp Stuff Steampunk Tag

Wow! Say that three times fast! LOL I was in a Steampunk kind of mood today so I got out my Steampunk & Shipping Tags SVGs from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF and created this fun project using my cricut and SCAL. I cut the gears and the tag out of cream card stock. I colored the tag with distress ink and clear embossed the whole thing, then added vintage photo distress ink over it and wiped off the excess. Next, colored the gears with my Alcohol Ink Mixatives, distressed them with a piece of sandpaper and colored over each piece with vintage photo distress ink. They really look like metal gears, and they are just paper! I adhered them with pop dots, stamped the images and sentiment, added a ribbon and I was done. I think this will make a fun birthday tag for a guy, what do you think? Happy Thursday, Everyone! Since were were having a snow storm Wednesday, I thought I would craft up a storm here in my cozy basement. I decided to make a couple of Valentines with my rubber stamps (INVOKE), patterned papers and the Fun Fair Ticket SVG file (LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF). I just sized the ticket to work with the stamp set using SCAL with my Cricut and started cutting and stamping! What fun! I cut a 12x12 sheet of tickets, so I now have a bunch of blank tickets on hand to be used for any occasion! I think I even have a few Christmas stamps that would work well too... I really like the idea of an SVG, rather than a die for this design, because I can resize the file to suit my needs. I can go small for the stamps I used, or go larger for some others-more to come :) and even larger for journaling! Happy New Year!!!! It is so good to be back after taking a break over the holidays. My family and I had a wonderful time during Christmas and New Year's Eve. My house has been very quiet this week with everyone back at school and work so I took some extra time to do some card making and shopping!
Two of the cards I made this week are using ATCs that I made and posted previously. I always make a couple of extras when I am in a swap so I decided to use these extras on cards. The third card is made using some patterned papers and my new Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Die.
Each of the cards are made using stamps and/or papers from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF - and the best part of that is, these sets are all on sale Thursday through Saturday for just one dollar! They are being retired in the Mygrafico Store, but will still be available in Lindsay's Shop Handmade Store.

Terrific Tags

Merry Christmas! Is everyone ready? I have my shopping done, but today I will be wrapping, baking and visiting. This week's project, as you may have guessed, is tags. I made this one super quick with the Winterland stamp set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I printed the Christmas Tree on white card stock and cut it out with my nestibilities (Labels Four) and embossed it (after I finally located the tan mat...). Next I cut a larger label with pink card stock and embossed it and taped the two together. I added glitter and self sticking gem stones to give the tree some sparkle. I punched a hole for the ribbon string and it was done. You could easily print several of the images in this set and do a bunch of these tags at once (which is what I SHOULD have done...but I digress).

I cut these out using my cricut (yes! I got a new expression and I LOVE IT!), my SCAL software, and this cool set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. Just cut them out, emboss, embellish, done. And here is the best part - MyGrafico is having a store wide 25% off sale today and tomorrow!

Happy Thursday! Today I have a quick and easy way to sweetly wrap your Christmas Candy. It's so easy, it's shameful...but this time of year, who doesn't need a quick fix or two?
I used the new WINTER WEAR set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff at My Grafico! And for one day only, MG is having a 40% off sale, which makes this project even better! All you need is a sheet of labels, a set of digi stamps and a bag of Hershey's Nuggets candy. Open your stamp (png form) and size it to fit your label. I used AVERY 8160 for this project. Using the software, change the color of the stamp(s) and center them on the label. Print them out and wrap one label around each piece of candy. They fit perfectly! These candies would be cute in a see through gift bag with a topper, stuffed in a stocking, or tossed in a pretty bowl and left out on the table for Santa!

Happy Thursday, Everyone! Have you all finished your Thanksgiving leftovers yet? Sadly, I didn't have any to finish (we went to hubby's parent's house) but we certainly haven't starved, by any means. ;)

Today I have a quick and easy card to make for Christmas. This would be a great one to make in batches. I started with the Harlequin Paper from Lindsay's Black and White Papers set. I printed out a small sheet (scaled to size) and then printed the stamp. You could actually print a few of each on one sheet and save time and money. I cut out the paper and attached 3 red brads in the lower right hand corner and glued it down on a black card base. I ran a strip of tombow adhesive on the edge and across the front and covered it with red ribbon. I cut out the stamp with my nesties, glued it down and done!

A Light Snowfall and Christmas Ornament

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. We did! We spent the day with my husband's family. We ate a delicious meal and ended the day by going to see the new Disney movie, TANGLED. This morning we woke to find a quiet, beautiful snow falling and it immediately put me in the Christmas Spirit. Since I am not much of a shopper, I decided to make an ornament for a swap I am in.
I started with some sparkly Coredinations papers in red and green. I used my Nesties Label One and cut out and embossed two red pieces and used my Scalloped Ovals and cut out and embossed two green pieces and one cream piece. I added two Prima Leaves to one of the green scallops and two red "dew drops" that I made from hot glue and alcohol inks. Click HERE to see a video tutorial on how to make these yourself! They are very easy and fun to make. I stamped the sentiment on cream card stock and outlined the edges with a black bic mark it pen. I created the "tails" by just free hand cutting the shapes and outlining with the same marker. I pop dotted the sentiment for dimension and added the K&Company button brad for a splash of color.

I decided to decorate the back as well, since it would be hanging on a tree and might be seen. Before I layered the scallops, I stenciled the cream scallop with Broken China Distress Ink and wrote my message. I added another button brad (so it wouldn't hang crooked) and glued the front and back together. Lastly, I punched two holes in the corners and tied a silk cord for a hanger. Fun Frog ATCs

Happy Thursday, Everyone! Today I am working on some ATCs for a swap. The only requirement was to have a frog on it! So, I immediately thought of the cute frog prince stamp in the Pretty Princess Set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff at Mygrafico. I think he's just about the cutest frog ever! I used the polka dot paper from her Homemade Holiday Papers set as my base and layered the Embossed Oval from the Embossed Mats set (at her Shop Handmade store) then added that cute little frog! OK, I'll confess. My son did all the layering in his photoshop program for me. LOL He's taking a class in school, so he knows all the tricks! Once they were printed, I stamped the sentiment, colored the frog and added the embellishments. So cute and so fun. Only eight more to go! Happy Thursday, Everyone! Today I am actually on vacation, but made this recipe card before I left! Yes, it's for another swap at the Stamp Shack! This is a cookie/bar recipe card swap. I used some fun digi paper from the Winter Printables kit and the FREE Shipping Tags from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I started with a 6x6 panel of white card stock onto which I added a strip of embossed coredinations paper. I printed the paper on a 4x6 sheet of matte finish photo paper and set it to leave a border. This creates the pocket and it's quite nice because I could print the paper on a smaller scale and didn't have to trim - no waste! I opened the tags in my photoshop program and typed up the recipe in red and printed them out. After I cut them out, I inked the edges and colored the tabs with distress inks. I stamped a snowflake for a little extra decoration. :) Next, I added snowflake brads and stick on jewels in the corners. A photo of my yummy treats finished off the front and I was done! You're Just My Type

Wow, Thursday sure rolls around fast these days! I have a set of Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) for you today. I am in a swap at the Stamp Shack (of course) and the theme for this set is "That's So Funny". We had to create a set of ATCs with some kind of play on words, so I put on my thinking cap and got out my STEAMPUNK and SCHOOL PAPERS sets from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF and went to work. I covered my digital canvas with the ledger paper and then layered the typewriter over it. I added the text "You're just my" on the next layer and then sized it to 2.25 x 3.25 and printed a sheet of them and cut them out. I then stamped "type" on each one using letters from My Sentiments Exactly, swooshed a bit of black soot distress ink around the edges for extra depth and added a few dots of distress stickles in the corner. That piece got mounted on a black cardstock panel and that completed the front. Easy peasy!
Next, I decided to print up the ATC back FREEBIE that Lindsay has in her Mygrafico Shop. I think it's nice to put some information on the back to let the collector know a bit about the card. I love making greeting cards and doing mini books, and lots of other paper crafts, but I think ATCs are my very favorite pieces to create. I just love making and collecting them! Each one is so different and unique, even though we all have the same basic theme and instructions.
Since it's almost Halloween, I thought I would give you a last peek at a couple of the great Halloween sets Lindsay has in her Mygrafico Shop.
The Creepy Crow set is my all time favorite, but the Too cute to spook set is fun too! Gobble them up while you still have time to eek out a few more Halloween cards! Here is the DT list for this week...you know the drill! Have fun and happy digi stamping!

Happy Thursday, Everyone! A sale always makes me happy, and at Mygrafico everything is 40% off today only ! Yesterday I went about the task of making a set of ATCs for a swap called "That's so Funny" that I am in at the Stamp Shack, but I just couldn't make anything work out. I wanted to use my Lindsay's Stamp Stuff image and sentiment "Get knitty with it" and the yarn balls in the center, but I just couldn't create anything cute that wasn't too plain and blah. I scrapped that idea for now, but did still want to use the Crafty Tools and Puns set. I decided to get a bit more digi than I usually do, and created my own patterned paper using a green background and randomly "stamping" the all around phrases borders (it doesn't show up well in the photo, not sure why?). I made a blue panel for the bottom and separately layered the sentiment onto black and also printed the image. I embossed the blue layer and cut out the sentiment and image. The image was layered on to a piece of Coredinations sparkly paper - I love that stuff!!! I added corners, ribbon and flowers to finish. I know it's not one of those "WOW!" cards, but I think it is cute.

Happy Thursday, Digi Stampers! It's a very happy Thursday, because from now until Saturday, everything at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is 30% Off!!! How can you NOT click over and do a little shopping??? This week, I have chosen to use a FREEBIE that Lindsay posted a few weeks ago (the freebie is at the end of her post). I just love this image and had to use it! I "colored" it with my Tim Holtz Distress Inks (spiced marmalade and peeled paint with a touch of milled lavender) and then gave it a little sparkle with brushed pewter distress stickles. I layered up Bazzil card stock with bo bunny patterned paper and added a few Prima Flowers for fun. I painted a bit of the stickles on the brads and flowers and then to finish, I stapled the corners with my tiny stapler (Tim Holtz). Super quick and super easy -My kind of card! (Smiling)

First Day of Fall Sale!

Happy First Day of fall everyone! Well, tomorrow anyway! LOL I had big plans for 2 great cards using digi stamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff this week - one to say goodbye to summer and one to welcome the fall, but my printer and programs had other ideas...grrr! On top of that, I have been sick with a cold this week, and my patience is wearing a little thin, so unfortunately, I have no new projects for today, but I do want to tell you about the First Day of Fall Sale at Mygrafico! There is a 40% off sale for the whole day on September 23rd!!! How cool is that? Even though I have no new project, I thought maybe I would link back to a favorite project from last year. A Quick Halloween Card and a Sale!

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is having a September Sale!!! 30% off everything in her Mygrafico shop through Friday! I was looking for inspiration so I went over to 2 Sketches 4 You and found a great sketch to get me rolling. I started with a stamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff (creepy crow set). Once I printed it, I die cut it with my scalloped nesties and distressed it with Tim Holtz faded jeans ink. I stamped "eek!" (studio g) on the journaling lines, then I plopped a dollop of Stickles all around it. I decided to use a black card stock base and a bright orange coordination's panel. They have sparkly paper now and it is super cool! Click the image and I think you can really see it! I cut a strip of Heidi Grace paper for the middle and stamped the spider (studio g) and added a few self sticking gems to give it a little more bling. Easy Peasy! Thanks for stopping by! It's all Fun and Games until somebody loses an EYElet!

Are you tired of my ATC swaps yet? LOL I couldn't resist this one, just because of the name! This swap required us to use at least one eyelet, so, I HAD to use it on an eye! I thought of this cute owl stamp I had (studio g) and decided to use it. I stamped it with Distress Ink, distressed it with more distress ink, added my eyelet and cut it out. I distressed the base with more distress ink (sorry Lindsay!), added the swirl (studio g) and glued on the owl. I hadn't done many swaps this summer and I seem to be making up for lost time! It's always so much fun to get everyone's creations back in the mail. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Have a wonderful day, and keep an eyelet out for more ATCs!

Happy Thursday, Everyone! Don't you just love to unwind with a nice cup of tea? I do! So for today, while sipping a cup of blueberry tea, I created another set of ATCs . I made these for another Stamp Shack Swap- this one we were challenged to use a digi stamp on our projects. I used a stamp from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF (of course!) I used one of the teacups from the TEARIFFIC STAMPS set for my focal point. I printed it on patterned paper and cut it out. I embossed a white panel of paper and inked it up with some coordinating ink. I then stamped a (TPC) sentiment and added a prima flower with a brad. I attached the teacup and flower with dimensional tape to give it, well, dimension. LOL These were super fun and easy to make. I Wish I were a Fish!

With all the HOT weather we have been having this past week here in Maine, I do wish I were a fish! I made these ATCs for a Stamp Shack swap. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks for the back ground. I used a masking technique on these, something I had never tried before! Can you believe that??? It was super fun and so easy to do. The grass stamp is by Stampscapes and the others are studio g. I also added a bit of Rock Candy Distress Stickles in the bubbles, just for fun!

I made this card with some leftover bo bunny and bazzill papers from a card I posted a couple of weeks ago and the crow from Lindsay's CREEPY CROW SET at mygrafico. I have used this set many times, and NOT always for Halloween! Just think about printing stamps in pretty colors instead of black. Think about word plays - I used the CROW TREE image from this set on a bag decoration for my hubby's 50th birthday gift and added the sentiment "Happy Birthday, you Old Crow!" Sorry, I didn't get any pics of that one...but that's another story...So, take a few minutes to shop the mygrafico sale and have fun!

Congratulations, Tamara!!!! LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF Design Team Member, Tamara, is expecting a baby boy any moment!!! I made this week's card in celebration of her new arrival. I used Lindsay's NEW digital paper SWEET STITCHES, the rattle from her BABIES AND BOWS set, and a sentiment from studio g. I got this super layout sketch from the Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog. I used these cute felt flowers from my forgotten stash, along with some tiny brown buttons. I embossed a sparkly blue panel of paper with my cuttle bug for some added fun. :) I put a second panel of the SWEET STITCHES paper with a stamped sentiment on a cream scrap (inkadinkado) on the inside of the card. School Time and an End of Summer Sale!

Yes, back to school is right around the corner and LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF is celebrating by hosting an END OF SUMMER SALE!!! Everything in her shop will be 30% off through Saturday!!! My Son will begin his Junior year of high school next Wednesday, so I thought I would make quick a card for him and put a little note of encouragement inside. I started with the SCHOOL PAPERS and the STEAMPUNK sets and just layered the typewriter and watch over the ledger paper in my Print Shop program. I colored the watch with a Bic Mark It pen and added some paper glaze to the watch face. I found these cool paper clips at Staples last year and thought they would be the perfect embellishments for this card. The sentiment was computer generated and printed right along with the paper. Happy Thursday, Everyone! Today I made a Halloween card using the CREEPY CROW set from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF - but it is pretty, not creepy!! I started with a black (Bazzill) card base and a double sided piece of patterned paper (bobunny) and a scrap of green card stock (Bazzill). I just cut, border punched (EK Success), and layered the papers with the crow from Lindsay's set, which I printed in a matching color. I added some ribbon, buttons, and Prima Flowers to finish the front. I printed the sentiment and layered it onto another piece of the patterned paper to finish the inside. I thought it would be fun to try some non-traditional colors in my Halloween card. Let me know what you think! I can't believe there are only19 more days until school starts! The summer sure has flown by quickly. So, with school on my mind this morning, I decided to make this back to school card. It is a 6x6 black card base which I layered with a page from an old math book. Then I added layers of red card stock to a panel of embossed paper and a cute stamp from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF. I colored it with bic mark its and copics. I added some ribbon, brads and a round paper clip, corner sticker and done! You can instantly download this image from the School Rules set at Mygrafico. A Pocket Full of Posies!

Hello, it's Thursday again and that means another project using stamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. This week I made this collage piece with the Jean Pocket stamp from the Patriotic set. I started by coloring the pocket and adding brads in the corners and adhered it to a leftover piece of bo bunny paper (that I just love). Then I began adding different Prima flowers and leaves with assorted buttons and brads for the centers. I stamped random butterflies around the page and added a bit of stickles to them for some bling. I printed the sentiment on my computer and inked it with spiced marmalade distress ink. Lastly, I added a musical note brad, inked the edges of the paper and done! You can buy this stamp set and lots more fabulous sets at Lindsay's Mygrafico shop. A Military Thank You

We have been having the most beautiful summer here in Maine. I have been outside every possible minute of every sun-shiny day, and today was no exception. As my son and I were out on the patio having lunch, reading, and just lounging about, we could see (and hear) the military jets blasting through the skies for a good part of our afternoon. I love to watch them as they fly in formation and zoom back to the airport, then start all over again. To see them reminds me of the great sacrifice that so many make on behalf of our whole country and it makes me feel so thankful and safe. So, as I was trying to decide what kind of card to make this week and feeling rather patriotic and thankful, I decided to make a card for one of our soldiers. I used the card kit from the PATRIOTIC COLLECTION from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF. I cut two squares and one rectangle from the papers in the card kit. I also cut a rectangle from a paper that I embossed with the Thank You folder from Cuttlebug, then distressed it with some red ink. I adhered all these to a blue card base and added a rubber stamped sentiment that I colored, along with some ribbon and a few extra pieces from the card kit which I layered on with pop dots. I put a sentiment from the kit on the inside and DONE! I think I will send this one to my cousin who is serving in our military in Germany. Yay!!! It is so good to be back. Although I've been having a wonderful summer with my family- We have been very busy traveling, reading, walking, driving (my ds has his permit), and picnic-ing, I have missed my studio and crafting very much. It was nice to be back last night and make this card using a sketch from Meslissa's blog, Tuesday Morning Sketches. She is having a big celebration this week in honor of her 1st anniversary/birthday! She challenged card making readers to use a sketch from her archives, so I chose to use TMS #13 for my card this week, but she added a twist: use something that reminds you of summer! I was in need of a thank you card, so I made this ladybug card using stamps from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF. The ladybug is from the DOODLEFLOWERS set, and the sentiment is from the ALL AROUND PHRASES set. (The small stamped flower is studio g.) It was easy to put together using Melissa's sketch. I added Rock Candy Stickles to the daisy centers and bee wings on the pp and then to the ladybug spots and the stamped flower center. Done!

This Bird is Busy!

I was just reading on a friend's blog how the month of May seems to be as busy or busier than December - and I totally agree! We have birthdays, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, school coming to a close (banquets, end of year stuff, parties...), baseball season begins, graduations...Yup, it's busier than December! But the bright side of that is that May is warmer and sunnier than December!
Since I was in a bright and cheery mood, I decided to use this cute bird from the Birds and Branches set at Lindsay's stamp Stuff on my card today. I printed it out on cream colored card stock. Sometimes I prefer the way my Prisma Markers look on cream card stock (instead of white). I used a cream card base and bazzill for the front. The patterned paper is a double sided piece called Blueberry Groove from Sassafras . I made the distress flower with a scrap and used a big brad for the center. Lately, I have been making cards without sentiments. That way I can pick a card out of my stash and stamp the sentiment on the inside to fit the occasion. I think this could be used for a Thinking of You, Happy Spring, Happy Birthday, Thank You, Congratulations...

One Cute Chick!

Hello, Everyone! It's a very happy Thursday here in Maine. After a day of pouring rain yesterday, today is sunny and heading for the 80's! My cards today are full of pretty spring flowers, starting with the patterned paper from Basic Grey. I just fell in love with it, and had to use it. I had this cute chick image from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff already printed, colored (with my Prismas) and die cut. It was just waiting for the right card to come along, and I think it did! I made the flowers by using a flower punch and bazzill papers. You first punch the flowers, then scrunch and mash them up, then peel the two layers apart. I layered each flower to give it more depth and added brads from elements. I also made a small card with a the scraps from my first card a piece of ribbon and some purple stickles. Happy Thursday! Are the weeks getting shorter, or is it just me? :) This week, I made a quick Congratulations card for a friend who recently graduated from college. This card was made with digi papers and stamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I used this week's freebie background paper, the All Around Phrases stamp, and a piece of the striped paper from the Black and White Elegant card kit. I kept this card all black and white so I could enter a challenge at Drunken Stampers this week. It also qualifies for the House Mouse Monday challenge (distress) and the ABC challenge (unused stash - brads).

Quick Mother's Day Card

Happy Thursday!!! It's digi stamp day! Today I have made up a very quick and easy card for my mom for Mother's Day. I chose the bird on the sunflower stamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff from the Pretty Primitives set and colored it with my Bic Mark Its. The patterned papers I used are from BoBunny and DCWV. The bling is self sticking from K&Company. I aged the edges of some of the panels with Distress Inks and that was it. Easy peasy~especially good for those last minute "whoops, I forgot..." cards! Hi Everyone! Happy Thursday!!! Well, it will be a happy Thursday as soon as I get my computer back. I got that nasty facebook virus last week, and my computer is finally ready. YAY!!!! Could you hear me shouting for joy? Fortunately, I have a netbook, so I am able to do a post for you this morning.
This Alice in Wonderland card is a white card stock gate fold base. I adhered two pieces of DCWV paper on the front as well as 6 sticky rhinestones in the corners. I cut out the blue (DCWV) flower shape with my nesties and then cut the Alice stamp out with a smaller flower. I blended Tea Rose Distress Ink around the stamp, colored it in and added Stickles to the edges so it would blend with the sparkly papers. Now, for my project! This is another one of those projects I started and never finished. I was inspired by a wall hanging in an old Country Marketplace magazine (Holiday 2006) done by Katie Estvold of Sparrow's Cottage. Rather than trace and cut out her pattern, I printed and cut out stamps from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF to use instead. I used the crow from the CREEPY CROW SET, the house from the PRETTY PRIMITIVES SET, and a flower from the DOODLE FLOWERS SET. I started by cutting my borders, corners and background (bo bunny, Daisy D). I printed the crow on the red paper, so he would have some nice color. The house and flower were printed on white card stock, (GP)then colored with my bic mark-its. I cut the hill from cream card stock (Staples) and the hilltop and leaves were cut from the red paper. I cut the word HOME using my cricut with the George cartridge. I glued everything down onto an old pizza box (way to recycle!) and drew in the flower stem, stamen and hanger for the house. I noticed the patterned paper had white flowers which didn't go well with the cream colors, so I aged the whole piece with Distress Ink (antique linen) and liked it much better. I then cut the box to size and glued the buttons in the corners, added my hanger and done! The finished piece measures 10x12 inches.

That was the Birthday, now for the Anniversary - MINE! Today is my 10th wedding anniversary!!!! The two cards I made this week were shamelessly quick and easy, but I think they are also lovely and elegant. I can't decide which to give hubby - maybe you all can help me.

I made these cards using the UPTOWN HOUNDS TOOTH paper and the EMBOSSED MATS sets from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF. I created a postcard document in my Printshop program so I could print out 4 panels on one sheet of paper. All I did was layer the mat over the hounds tooth paper and print it out. Next, I cut out the panels and stamped the tulip and stem (Stampin' Up) one one card, adhered a red ribbon around that panel, attached that to a panel of black card stock and then to a white card base. For the other card, I stamped the birds (Inkadinkado), colored the cardinal with a red watercolor marker, attached a red Prima Flower and brad center then adhered that panel to a black card stock base. I don't think it took a whole 15 minutes to make BOTH of these cards!

Alice in Wonderland

Happy Thursday! This week I decided to create a couple of cards using the ALICE IN WONDERLAND and the SHABBY HOUNDS TOOTH and UPTOWN HOUNDS TOOTH sets from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF. After watching the new Alice in Wonderland movie a couple of weeks ago, I started thinking about Alice projects I could make. I am still mulling a few over in my brain, but recently I was inspired by Vanessa Spencer to make these cards. I started by cropping my image and a section of the hounds tooth paper from the sheets and adjusting them to size I wanted, using PhotoShop Elements. It is important to crop the digi paper, because if you just shrink it, you will lose the pattern in the paper. I coordinated the color of the hounds tooth with the colors I knew I would be using on my images. I colored only a small section of the images for a minimalist look. Next, I splashed a small amount of coordinating paint under the image. Once it dried, I stamped the sentiments (inkadinkado) on the paint. I added stamped corners (Heidi Grace) and on the White Rabbit card, I stamped the pocket watch (Hero Arts) and colored it. I added just a couple of simple embellishments and a few punched hearts. I inked the edges of each piece with matching colors and adhered those to matching colored cardstock before attaching the whole thing to the white base. The finished cards are 5 1/2 x 6 1/2. Distress Tags!

Happy Friday, Everyone! I was up and at 'em early this morning and couldn't stop thinking about the new Distress Inks I got at Judy's Scrappin' and Stampin'. I created these three tags using a few simple techniques I saw at Two Peas in a Bucket. For the blue tag, I inked up the tag using Broken China. Next, I used the Embossing Ink to ink up my crackle background stamp from Stamp Camp. Once that was inky, I sprayed it with water and stamped the tag, dried it with my heat tool and got that nice crackled look. I think it almost looks like water! I stamped the sentiment (Hero Arts) and the text background (Dimensions) on the Prima using Vintage Photo. I cut the stem and leaves from a brown scrap and added cool dew drops made by my friend Lindsay, of Lindsay's Stamp Stuff! She has a great tutorial video on her blog. Click HERE to see her video and make your own dew drops. The second tag was made by inking up the tag with Rusty Hinge, Barn Door, and Peeled Paint Distress Inks. Next, either spray or splash water drops onto the tag and dry with heat tool. I colored the flowers with Barn Door and Peeled Paint and attached a bronze brad for the center. I cut a stem and leaves from scraps, stamped the sentiment in the corner with Vintage Photo and added those fun dew drops to finish it off. The leaf was attached with pop dots for dimension. The third tag was made with a combination of Spun Sugar, Bundled Sage and Pumice Stone inks. I colored the flower with Tattered Rose and stamped the text background on it with Vintage Photo, as well as the sentiment (Hero Arts). I added the button center and Prima leaf along with more of the dew drops for embellishments. These were really fun to make and they were not difficult! -My kind of work! Pretty Prim Houses

It's Digi Stamp Thursday, and that means I have cards to show you using stamps from LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF!
Today I have a couple of cards that I made using the cute house image from Lindsay's PRETTY PRIMITIVE digi stamp set. Hubby and I own a fence company here in Maine and from time to time he needs cards to send to customers or business associates. He needed a couple of thank you cards recently, so I made these for him. I started by printing the house image and coloring it with a combination of bic mark its and Prisma markers. I cropped it and matted it to a piece of colored paper. Next, I embossed a piece of coordination's paper with my cuttlebug and a folder and sanded the embossed areas. I attached the house panels to the embossed panels and then added Prima flowers and attached the whole panel onto the card base. I added a piece of white paper to the inside of the card for writing. Ta Da! Two cute cards that were quick and easy to put together. You can buy this stamp set from Lindsay at MyGraficO. Happy Spring! Today is the first day of Spring here in the USA, and I decided to post these cards I made for Sherri's (iloveflipflops) Stamp Shack Challenge. I know I'm posting them a little late (what else is new?) Since they are so bright and cheery, they seemed appropriate for springtime birthdays. These cards were made from scraps of birthday papers, Prima Flowers, brads and ribbons I had in my stash...and it wouldn't be a card without some Stickles, would it? Spring has Sprung!

...well, almost! Officially, Spring will have sprung on the 20th of this month, but since it has been unseasonably warm and extremely sunny here in Maine for the last few days, I'm calling it Spring a few days early.
And since it is Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Thursday, I decided to paint another block of wood using one of her beautiful digi stamps from the BIRDS AND BRANCHES set. I did this one as the others: base coated the block of wood, transferred the digi stamp to my block and painted the design. Instead of painting the flowers, I decided to add Prima Flowers to give it a little dimension and softness. I added Stickles to the flower centers and stamped "spring has sprung" (studio g) in the corner. I had these two cute chunky flowers just begging to be painted, so I mixed some paints to make similar shades of lavendar to match the Primas. Lastly, I distressed the edges of all the pieces with my dremel tool. These were fun, easy projects that anyone could do. Here is a preview of the set my design was taken from:

Everything's Popping Up Daisies!

I am still hard at work - turning my UFOs into pretty projects. Since it has been so dark and gloomy here in my neck of the woods lately, I decided to make my own spring - and what better way than to paint up some pretty, prim projects?
I found a whole box of unfinished wood projects in the basement. Hubby had cut out these chunky wood daisies for me (ahem) 4 or 5 years ago (ahem) and I thought it was about time to finish them. I also found a couple of chunky hearts, flower heads, clay pots and blocks of wood in random shapes and sizes. So, I painted up all the flowers (there were seven of them) and decided to use some of LINDSAY'S STAMP STUFF's cute digi stamps on a few of the wood blocks. I chose the doodle ladybug for one block, the dragonfly for another and the "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you" sentiment from her DOODLEFLOWERS stamp set. For the ladybug, I base coated the block of wood, printed the stamp to size and traced it onto the block and painted the red parts, then outlined with the black. The dragonfly was done the same way, only I added a rubber stamped (impression obsession) sentiment at the bottom. For the sentiment block, I again base coated the block, then printed the sentiment on gingham paper, glued it onto the block then adhered the prima flowers and leaves with pop dots. I decided that my new creations needed a little bit of distressing, so I broke out the Dremel tool and sanded the edges of each piece. I painted the clay pots and then distressed them with Tim Holtz's vintage photo ink. I also added it to the edges of a some of the flowers and hearts.

I am the Queen of UFOs!

If you are anything like me, you probably have a fair amount of UFOs (Un-Finished Objects) laying around your studio/craft area. I think I am the Queen of UFO Land. I was in the middle of a great project last week when something important came up and I couldn't finish it. This seems to happen to me often! I am always coloring images, but don't put them on a card. I take (and sometimes even print) photos, but don't scrap them, I cut out a wood craft and don't get it painted...you get the idea.

I am now on a mission to complete these UFOs in my basement studio and relinquish my crown. I started by using these images from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff that I colored (who knows how long ago, LOL) and made them into cards. I love this tree image, but didn't know what to do with it until I saw a fun card in the Dec/Jan/Feb issue of stamper's sampler take ten magazine. The card was designed by Rosemary Dennis and is on page 5. Being inspired by her card, I created this one.
My card measures 5 1/2 x 7 1/2. I used a cream cardstock base and this cute patterned paper that our very own Lindsay gave me from her stash (THANKS, Lindsay!). I just love this paper and thought it would work well with this stamp. I distressed each layer of paper and card stock before adhering it to my base. I distressed my white string and green button with Timber Brown StazOn ink. Next, I ran a scrap of brown paper through my paper crimper, stamped a sentiment from Stampscapes, added a brad and...VOILA! A finished object!

My second card, isn't quite finished yet. I started it with a blue base and border punched the lower edge and adhered a scrap of green cardstock to the bottom. I added some distress stickles to the image and the scalloped edge of my card base, but it seems to need something else. I was hoping to get some feedback from you all. I can't seem to come up with anything. My ribbons don't quite do it, my flowers seem like too much, but think it might need "more" so I would love any ideas you can give me for this one. :)

It's Digi Stamp Thursday!

Hey, Everyone! I'm afraid it's another quick card post today. I missed you all last week, as I was sick. I'm feeling better, but this week my mom is sick. I had to take her to the hospital yesterday. The doctors thought she may have had another stroke. The good news is, she didn't and she has an infection that is being treated and she's already feeling much better and may get to come home again tomorrow. So, I just have a quick card using an image I had printed a couple of weeks ago and whipped up into this cute card using two of Lindsay's cute digi stamps. One is from her All Around Phrases set, and the other from the Love Grows set. Lindsay has created a new set which I just LOVE! I was in the middle of creating a project with this new set yesterday when my mom called to say she wasn't feeling well. Now that she's doing better, I'll try and get it finished for next week. Just a quick post today - my step daughter and 7 month old grandson are visiting and as you can imagine, I've been very busy! I made this card using a stamp from the All Around Phrases set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I was in the mood to do something for a little boy (wonder why?) and came up with this. I opened the stamp in my Print Shop program and changed the color to brown to match the papers and cut it out with my new nestibilities. Very simple and easy, but I really like how it turned out. A Dig Valentine's Day Card

As I was thinking of what kind of card to make for this week, I thought about how my card making obsession began. It started about 9 years ago. I had a computer, a printer, a package of copy paper and an inexpensive card making program. I would go through the index of choices, add in some of my own photos and design cards for my friends and family. I even created a signature on the back that represented our family with a "created by" line and some clip art.
Once I discovered rubber stamps, paper punches and eyelets, I began to combine them with my card making software to create cards and post cards. Before I knew it, I forgot my computer and have added to my stash of embellishments and have had ink stained fingers ever since...and then Lindsay started Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.
I had to dig back into my computer and try to remember things I forgot. At times, it has been frustrating. But then I began to think...hmmm...that's how I started making cards - with the computer. Why was something that was so easy years ago, so daunting to me now? I decided to dig out my old program once again and put it back to work. It was so simple. Why didn't I think of this before?
I opened a new document in my program and began to import the stamps from the LOVE GROWS HERE set. I just can't get enough of this one! It's too cute. For my card, I created a background (watermark) with the sentiment. Next, I re-created Melissa's layout with the digi stamps and was able to easily color in and outline them with my program. I added a photo of myself and a sentiment to finish the digital elements. Once it was printed, I popped in three brads and adhered that to a card base with a scalloped edge. Stickles gave the card it's finishing touch. (DejaVu?) LOL
So for those of you who want to try digi stamps but think it might not be as easy as it looks, open up an old, familiar software program and design a hybrid card like I have. It doesn't have to be a new, fancy program -anything you use to print a photo will work. Think of the digi stamp like it's a photo or clip art and copy it into the document. It will be fun to see how you can use something old to put a new spin on your card making fun!

The stamps are Holiday Clear Stamps. The simple layout and minimal embelishments made them easy to assemble. Looks like I'm off to a good start this year, Sherri! Digi Stamp Thursday - Birthday Cards!

Hi Everyone! I have Birthday cards on the brain today. I joined a swap at the Stamp Shack~ make 5 Birthday cards each month for my "stash". Since we were snowed in here in Maine last night, I made cards. And, since it's Thursday, I used a couple of digi stamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. The Bird is from her "Love Grows Here" set, and the cupcake is from the "Sweet Stuff" set. These were all quick and easy to put together! My kind of cards :)

Basic Grey, Babies and Bows!

It's Thursday and that means it's Digi Stamp Day with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff! Yesterday I went shopping with Cindi (one of our talented Design Team Members) and then we met Lindsay (of Lindsay's Stamp Stuff) for lunch at a local Thai restaurant. We all enjoyed delicious food and had a great time. While Cindi and I were shopping, I found (what I thought) was going to be a versatile embossing folder that I could use for birthdays, Christmas.... Turns out, when I got it home, it was for baby cards. If you look closely, you can see a baby bottle and booty in the embossing. So...I decided to keep it anyway and use it with the BABIES AND BOWS stamp set that Lindsay designed. I really like how this card turned out. It could be used for a baby shower or for a new baby. With a different sentiment, it could be used for a baby's first birthday as well. I wanted to use non-traditional colors instead of predictable pastels. To give the card a more "finished" look, I added faux stitching to the card stock panels and was able to meet a challenge at the Sunflowers and Dragonflies challenge blog.

Recycled Cards - Child's Play?

I was helping a friend this week with ideas for her once a month craft group at a local nursing home and she told me that one of the ladies had "heckled" her several times saying that what they were doing was "child's play". After the third or fourth time of getting the business from this lady, she told the lady that she was starting to get a complex and then the lady changed her tone and made a joke of it, joined in on the craft time and has been having a wonderful time reconnecting with her "inner child"! So...
I thought since this was on my mind and Lindsay had challenged us this week to create a project using something recycled, I would make my card recycled AND child-like. If you remember (as I did) our first art projects were created using scraps, bits and pieces or something we had rescued from the recycle bin, etc.
I started with a purple Bazzil card stock base and a piece of an oatmeal box, and of course, since it's Thursday, a couple of digi stamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I used her EMBOSSED MATS set and this cute image from her new stamp set LOVE GROWS HERE. I used Print Shop to create a two colored background and layered the embossed mat and bird image on top of that. I painted the image with water colors and let the colors and ink smudge (think child-like here). Next, I used my corner rounder on the corners and my cool new Tim Holtz mini stapler to staple a loop of scrap ribbon to each side. As I was trying out my new border punch, I realized the scrolled scraps from that were very pretty and glued a couple in opposite corners of the panel. I found a couple of metal letter brads for the X and O in the lower corner. I ran the panel of my oatmeal box through a paper crimper, tore the front layer off, crumpled the edges a bit and adhered the digi panel to that, then attached that panel to the card stock. I border punched a scrap of vellum and used a rub on for the sentiment and glued that to the inside of the card. This was such a fun card to make. Thanks for the challenge, Lindsay!

Printer Problems and Birthday Wishes...

Ok, so I was having MAJOR printer problems yesterday. Ggggrrrr...so, I was not able to print a Christmas image to make a Christmas card. But, I did have one of the pretty Cosmos images Lindsay designed already printed and die cut with Cindi's Nesties, so I had to make do and use that. I colored it with my bic mark its and added some Stickles to the flower center for a little sparkle. I stamped the sentiment with a studio g stamp and added a ribbon. I had to do a quickie since I had already spent so much time trying to print the Christmas images! (More of that ggggrrrr.) This week, I chose to use tags and papers from the Winter Printable Papers, Tags and Cupcake Wrappers set. I used the blue snowflake card for my base along with the Happy Holidays tag from this set. I got this snowman tag in a swap I participated in at the Stamp Shack - it was too cute not to use on a card, and goes so well with Lindsay's paper. It is always fun to combine digi stamps with with rubber stamps. I punched the corners from an embossed scrap of coordinations paper - so easy!

Best Friends

Happy Thursday! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have finally awoken from my turkey induced coma and have a project for you using pieces from a couple of Lindsay's Stamp Stuff stamp sets. This week I made a project using a 5x5 canvas from Joanne Fabrics. It had a large dragonfly on it, but I painted over it with gesso, and then two colors of light green acrylic paints. Next, I cut some small pieces of coordinating CK Scrappin' Creations Power Pad and layered them over the painted canvas using matte gel medium. I added more layers of paint, Distress Inks, and paint colored with Alcohol Inks until I had a look that I liked. Actually, I think I got a little too much ink, but that's ok. You still want to be able to see some of the papers through the layers. Oh-and you need to let each layer dry before adding the next. I used my heat tool to speed things up - no patience, you know!

At this point, those of you (who are not me) would get out your graphite paper and trace the fabric flower stamp onto the canvas. If you are me, you cannot find your graphite paper and start to panic until you remember Lindsay's "trick". The trick is to color over the back side of the printed image with a pencil. Then lay the image on the canvas and trace over it with your pencil. This transfers the image, just like graphite paper! At this point (if you are me) you are thinking you may never look for that paper again! This part was too easy!

Once the image has been transferred to the canvas, paint it and let it dry. Add details with your prisma pencils to the leaves and outline the whole image with a charcoal pencil. Add a gemstone brad for the flower center. Print, cut out, and ink up the "If friends were flowers" stem and the heart and star from the "Patriotic Elements" set. Attach them with the gel medium and dry. Stamp "best friends" with Distress Ink, distress the edges and you are done.

It's beginning to FEEL a lot like winter!

Brrr....the mornings are sure chilly around here lately...so, I decided to make a couple more Christmas cards! And, since it's Thursday, you guessed it, I'm creating cards with digital images from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. This week I've used the penguin from the "Cool Yule" set and a "Christmas Bingo Card" for one card, and a cupcake topper from the "Christmas Cupcake Wrappers" set for the other. I also got a two new Cuttlebug Embossing Folders and thought I'd take one of them for a spin too.
The first card is a 6x6 card using the cool penguin stamp. I colored him with my bic mark its and added some stickles to the hat. I printed out the Jolly bingo card and added a snowflake brad to the center and "hung" it on the card like a calendar with a couple of brads. I punched a border for the top and bottom and used DCWV patterned paper for the background.

The second card is A-2 size, made with a dark green card stock base and a piece of red coordinations paper for the front. I ran the paper through the cuttlebug and sanded off the embossed areas. I added Distress Stickles to the snowflakes and a star brad in the word Joy. I colored the leaves with my bics and filled in the dove with more Distress Stickles.

Since these were both simple cards, I decided to make matching envelopes for both of them. They were made with templates I borrowed from Cindi (thanks, Cindi!) and more DCWV paper.

Tiny Gift Cards

Happy Monday, Everyone! Just a quick post to give you a few ideas for using up your scraps. I am a terrible pack rat and keep EVERYTHING.
These tiny cards are perfect to tuck into a gift, leave on a friend's desk at work (perhaps with a piece of candy), or if you are like me, you might join lots of swaps - ATCs, cards, kits. I like to enclose a little note of thanks for the hostess and thought these would be fun.
Each card in this post is 3 1/2 inches or smaller! I made the bases with card stock scraps and decorated them with small die cut pieces, paper punched flowers, leftover brads and sticker with a rubber stamp or two, just for fun! Anything goes, really. Hope this gives you some ideas today...now go have some fun!

P.S. I'm not sure why this posted so "funky" but I've tried everything to fix it and can't!

Cool Yule! It's Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Thursday!

Yay! It's Thursday again and that means it's time for a digi stamp card or two or three or five...guess I just got a little carried away with this stamp! I just LOVE this new penguin and sentiment set that Lindsay created last week. You can buy it in her Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Store for just $1.50. I started with a sketch from Mojo Monday and then found this fun patterned paper in my DCWV Christmas paper stack, left over from last year. If you look closely, you can see the paper is covered with little ski boots, jackets, hats, poles...you get the idea. I thought it would pair up perfectly with Lindsay's "cool" penguin.

I colored the stamp with my bic mark it pens and added Stickles and Distress Stickles to the penguins' hats and hold on to your hats girls - I USED MY CRICUT to cut out the snowflakes! Why don't I use this little treasure more often? I used distress stickles on some, and "regular' stickles on others. Click the photos to make them larger, and I think (hope) you can see the difference. Regular stickles are more sparkly. I used pop dots to adhere the snowflakes for added dimension. To finish a couple of these, I added eyelets and string to the corners for a challenge at The Stamp Shack!

Since this was such a fun and easy sketch, I made some extras so I can use these for Christmas Cards. I used a studio g sentiment stamp on one of the cards, and made a square card with more DCWV patterned paper.

Tea for You

This card was made for a contest at my Local Scrapbook Store, Judy's Scrappin' and Stampin'. She gave all her customers who wanted to participate a kit that included a piece of patterned paper, a sticker sheet of lace and some punch outs. We had to use at least one of each of the elements on our card and could add other elements as well. This week all of her customers have been voting for their favorite card. The winner will receive a gift certificate for the store. All cards entered in the contest will be donated to a card ministry. This is what I came up with.

I took my sketch inspiration from this week's sketch at Inspirational Card Sketches. I thought this teapot stamp would be perfect for the focal point! It was created by Courtney Ricker for Your Maine Stamper. The sentiment is from The Paper Company Studio. The flowers are by Prima. Sketchy Cosmos Cards

Can you believe it is Thursday already? I can't! I made these cards for some friends of mine who I thought could use a little bit of flowery cheer. This is the Sketchy Cosmos stamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I colored the image with my Bic Mark its and added a bit of Stickles (of course). I embossed the pink paper with a cuttlebug folder (it's a perfect match!) and tied a ribbon around it. I inked around the edges of the image panel with black ink and adhered it to a panel of green cardstock. I added the three brads to the bottom of the panel and adhered that to the pink panel. The pink panel was then attached to a white card base. For the second card I inked around the image with black ink and attached it to a panel of green cardstock. I added brads and a metal tab for embellishments. I stamped the sentiment on a white panel, cut it out and attached it to a green panel and trimmed it to fit the stamp. I adhered both pieces to a yellow panel along with some prima flowers and brad centers. Very quick and easy, but very cheery and elegant, I think. I found this image was easy to color and think it could be used for several occassions, such as birthday, thinking of you, sympathy, get well, anniversary...actually, I can't think of anything it wouldn't be good for! Ok, maybe a guy wouldn't be super psyched about it... but that's another story...
Lindsay has created yet another fun set of stamps this week - it's the Doodle Flower set. It is only $4.50 this week in the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff shop! I am hoping to get to play with that set this weekend. Trick or Treat!

Happy Thursday! I decided to make some fun Halloween Cards this week using the Spooky Bingo Cards from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. You can buy the whole sheet for just $1.00! Lindsay has lots of fun Halloween stamps in her shop. Be sure to check them out soon before they vanish! Also be sure to check out the Design Team Blogs. My cards are pretty basic this week. The card bases are from bazzill. I cut panels of black paper to mat the skull paper and the spooky bingo cards. I tied ribbon around the panels and added prima flowers and brads. The third card was made using a sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You. I border punched the edge of the orange paper and adhered it to the black base. I cut the Boo 2 U part off the Bingo card and matted it and the piece of patterned paper with black card stock, added a pumpkin brad and a prima flower along with another one of Lindsay's digi stamps and a stapled a piece of ribbon on the matted stamp. I added a paper clip in the corner to finish it. That's it for today. See you soon...

Crazy for Coffee!!!

Happy Thursday! It's Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Day! I made these cards using Lindsay's Coffee Talk stamp set. It is getting chilly here in Maine and there's nothing like a hot cup of coffee to warm you up while you are stamping. So...I made these fun cards while I drank some hot coffee. I printed out the coffee cup images on cream card stock and die cut them (thank you, Cindi) with the scallop nestibilities. The images were colored with Bic Mark Its and sprinkled with Distress Stickles and Distress Ink. I layered the card bases with a panel of patterned paper, more die cuts, and distress inks. They were embellished with prima flowers, brads and eyelets. The sentiment is from Stampabilities. The third card was made with a bazzill card base and a scrap of bo bunny patterned paper. I embossed a piece of rust paper with the swirls cuttlebug embossing folder and finished with a couple of prima flowers and a brad. Cold weather is here...

YIKES! I had to turn the heat on!!! Since it's so cold here today, (and some parts of Maine may see snow fall today) I decided to post some Christmas Cards that I have made. I was such a lazy card maker last year, and only made a couple of cards, so this year I decided to get started early. Sherri at the Stamp Shack hosted a challenge to make 5 each month. Although I have not quite kept up with that, I am about 18 cards ahead of last year! These images were all RAK'd to me last year for my birthday. I just love Fluffles!!! He's my kind of cat...The images are all colored with my watercolor pencils, some have stickles added for a little bling. The patterned papers are from a mat stack that I've had for a while too! The flowers are Primas. I have other Christmas cards that are "in the works" and will post them as I finish them. I am off to work on some ATCs for a swap I am in. But first, I think I'll make a cup of hot chocolate...

Funky Trees and Freebies!!!

Happy Thursday, Everyone! The sun is shining today and that always makes me happy! Just a quick post today, it sure has been a busy week. I made this card using stamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I just love the trees in her new set "Funky Forest". I printed this one out twice, making one tree larger than the other. I colored them with my Prisma Markers and cut them out. I embossed my rust colored card stock in a cuttlebug folder and then embossed a blue-green strip in an embossing border and added stickles to the flower centers. I cut an oval out of my last piece of this bo bunny paper (sniff...Cindi, we need to go get some more) and then glued everything together and tied a ribbon to finish. Quick and easy! A Moose's Work is Never Done!

Don't you just love Riley? I do!!! I made these fun ATCs for a swap over at The Stamp Shack. I colored the Riley image with my bic mark its and used picket fence distress stickles on the iron. The sentiment is computer generated and the tiny clothes pin (thank you very much, Lindsay) is glued on with white craft glue. That panel was attached to an ATC sized piece of red cardstock, in honor of my red laundry room. Now, if I could just get Riley to come do my ironing...

I made two cards this week - one for a dear cousin who just had shoulder surgery, and one for a favorite friend who shares my love of coffee! My cards were quite simple this week. I printed the images, cut them out with my coluzzle oval template and colored them with my bic mark its. I used a cuttlebug die for the "hello friend" sentiment. I blended antique linen distress ink on one card to give it an aged look, and used picket fence distress stickles to give the second card just a touch of bling. The card bases are made with bazill cardstock. Lindsay has posted links to everyone's blogs so you will see the most current, up-to-date creations by her fabulous design team members. Creepy Crows ATCs

ATCs are one of my favorite things to create. I just love trading/collecting them - I have a whole notebook full of them. The theme for this swap was "crows". I didn't really have an outstanding crow stamp, so I asked Lindsay at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff to create one for me and I chose to use one of the flourished crow stamps in her "Creepy Crows" stamp set. I started by cutting my cream card stock base to 3 1/4 x 2 1/4. I used antique linen, faded jeans, and spiced marmalade Distress Inks to create the background. Next I ran each piece through my cuttlebug using the swirls embossing folder. I painted the backgrounds with blue and orange pearl paints so the card would sparkle. I printed the crows, colored them with my bic mark its and cut them out. I die cut the branches using a sizzix die and punched the moons from an old Edgar Alan Poe book. I gave the moons a quick gloss of gold pearl paint and adhered all the pieces onto the background. I attached that to a 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 piece of blue bazzill cardstock and stamped the sentiment (Wood Cellar Graphics) on the back. I really like how these turned out!

Tim Holtz, Cranberry Muffins, and Stamped Wrappers!

I've recently been obsessed with Tim Holtz and his demos. I've been watching them on my netbook and wanted to try some of his techniques. I picked up on something he said - he said he liked to use tags for his demos. My mind went from tags to Cupcake Wrappers! This morning was a beautiful, crisp fall morning and I decided to make some cranberry muffins and put my idea to work. So, while my muffins were cooling, I went to the computer to print Lindsay's Blank Cupcake Wrappers. There were 3 different distress ink techniques, and well, there were 3 wrappers in the set. It was a sign... I knew I had to do it!
Just a side note - I was afraid it would take a long time to cut out the wrappers and medallions, but being the OCD person I am, I set my timer for just to see how long it would take to cut everything out. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it only took me 11 minutes to cut out all the pieces. A tip I will suggest is when you are cutting both the medallions and the wrappers to turn the paper, not your scissors. You have better control and it goes more quickly. Also a big tip - make sure your wrappers are right-side-up when you decorate them. The long curve is the top and the shorter curve is the bottom. You know why I'm telling you this...I have a set of upside down birds and trucks on my hands!
I made this one for my hubby. It occurred to me recently that I make things for lots of people, and he's usually not one of them! Poor guy! For this one I used distress inks colors Orange Marmalade and Faded Jeans. The stamps are all Tim Holtz. This technique is done by inking your craft mat, adding water and laying your paper on top. Continue with this until you get the desired results. You will need to heat dry after each layer.
The next one I made using only Aged Mahogany ink and Tim Holtz stamps. This one is done by crumpling the paper, inking with a distress pad, and spritzing with water. Next, you iron it flat and start stamping! I think I'm going to give this one to a very special friend. But I'm not saying who it is, in case she reads this before I see her!
The last one is for Halloween. I used Orange Marmalade and Peeled Paint distress inks. This was the technique where you ink up your tool, and start on your craft mat by circling around and on to the paper. More pressure gives you more color. After this one dried, I ran it through my cuttle bug in an embossing folder and added a spooky pumpkin stamp and sentiment to this one. The pumpkin is Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, the sentiment is snag 'em stamps, and the spider is studio g.

Crow Trees and Freebies!

Fall is certainly in the air way up here in Maine. The leaves are beginning to change and we may have a frost on our hands (well, on the grass) this morning. When the sun comes up, I'll go check and see! I had asked Lindsay to create a crow stamp for me because I'm in a ATC swap at The Stamp Shack. Well, being the overachiever that she is, she made a whole set of crow stamps! Here's a preview of the set: (I'm not sure why the pic is so small. Maybe someone can help?)

Even though I originally asked for a crow to use for the ATC swap, I decided to do another sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches. Makes sense, right? :) I am really loving sketches lately! They take all of the "thinking" out of making a card. I used black bazzill for my card base. I layered a panel of the the striped side of a sheet of bo bunny paper onto the base and cut two small strips of purple bazzill and emobssed them with a border folder. I layered a panel of the polka dotted side of the bo bunny paper onto that and printed the Crow Tree onto a scrap of orange DCWV, inked up the edges with Black StazOn ink. I used pop dots to adhere the top two layers and I finished up with a couple of Prima Flowers (also pop dotted) and some Stickles~ Ta DA! I can see I'm going to have a lot of fun with my new stamp set! Thanks, Lindsay!

This is the card I made using Lindsay's new Coffee Talk digi stamp set! I just love this new set and can't wait to make more cards with it. and I didn't get a project made! Oh, bother! It has been a very busy week. I'll spare you all the gory details, but you mom's with teens starting back up at high school know what I'm talking about! Sunflower ATC Fun!

I am in an ATC swap at the Stamp Shack. OK, so I'm really in about 8! Anyway, the one I worked on this week is Sunflowers. I know I've used this image from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff before, but it is so cute, I just couldn't resist using it again! I thought it was perfect for this swap! I used my bic mark its to color the image and cut it out with my nesties. I layered the image onto a piece of bo bunny paper, and then onto a piece of pumpkin cardstock that I embossed with one of my cuttlebug folders. A few dollops of stickles and it's done!
