February's Birthday Card Challenge

Happy Spring! Today is the first day of Spring here in the USA, and I decided to post these cards I made for Sherri's (iloveflipflops) Stamp Shack Challenge. I know I'm posting them a little late (what else is new?) Since they are so bright and cheery, they seemed appropriate for springtime birthdays. These cards were made from scraps of birthday papers, Prima Flowers, brads and ribbons I had in my stash...and it wouldn't be a card without some Stickles, would it? Well, folks, I'm off to enjoy our official first day of spring. Hope you all enjoy yours!

Digi Stamp Thursday - Birthday Cards!

Hi Everyone! I have Birthday cards on the brain today. I joined a swap at the Stamp Shack~ make 5 Birthday cards each month for my "stash". Since we were snowed in here in Maine last night, I made cards. And, since it's Thursday, I used a couple of digi stamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. The Bird is from her "Love Grows Here" set, and the cupcake is from the "Sweet Stuff" set. These were all quick and easy to put together! My kind of cards :)

Printer Problems and Birthday Wishes...

Ok, so I was having MAJOR printer problems yesterday. Ggggrrrr...so, I was not able to print a Christmas image to make a Christmas card. But, I did have one of the pretty Cosmos images Lindsay designed already printed and die cut with Cindi's Nesties, so I had to make do and use that. I colored it with my bic mark its and added some Stickles to the flower center for a little sparkle. I stamped the sentiment with a studio g stamp and added a ribbon. I had to do a quickie since I had already spent so much time trying to print the Christmas images! (More of that ggggrrrr.) Cool Cards!

Wow! It has been a busy week. My family all left for NYC on Tuesday to visit more family before heading back to their own homes. We had so much fun while they were here. We spent almost all of our time outside, since the weather was so nice. It was sad to see them all leave.

So, not being in the best of moods, I wasn't really up for coloring images today, so I decided to print one of the easy to use card kits from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff this week. I was able to make three cards very quickly.

I used the coolkid card kit for these cards. I printed the kit on white paper and cut out the pieces. For the birthday card, I used a blue cardstock for my base, and layered the pieces on top, using brads for embelishments in the star centers. For the friend card, I also used blue cardstock for the base, and embelished with ribbon and prima flowers, finishing it up with a rubber stamped sentiment. For the together forever card, I sponged antique linen distress ink over the star panel and the bolts and embelished with ribbon and an eyelet for a different look. I layered the stars, rust and striped papers on a cream cardstock base and stamped the sentiment with brown ink. Three different cards, all made from the same card kit!

Since it has been such a big hit, Lindsay has decided to make last month's "special"a permanent deal - spend $5 and get a free stamp! And don't forget to hop through the Design Team's blogs to see where this week's freebie has been planted!

Digi Stamp Thursday

Don't ask me why I was drawn to fall colors this week! I got these pretty papers, brads and stickers at Judy's Scrappin' and Stampin', and I can't put them down! I thought they would be great with this funky tree stamp from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff! I colored the stamp with my bic mark its and embelished the fruit on the tree with orange stickles. I used a sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches which is a new challenge blog, recently started by Melissa Craig. Click on the link and give it a try. Birthday Cards!

These are a couple of birthday cards I made last week. I made the background paper by inking up my Happy Birthday cuttlebug embossing folder with several colors of FiberScraps e-z walnut ink Tintz. I put a piece of white cardstock in the folder and ran it through the cuttlebug. I just used a baby wipe to clean up the folder when I was done. Once the paper was dry, I cut it to size and adhered it to a white card. My best friend, Cindi, was kind enough to let me borrow her Nesties and I cut the ovals and scalloped ovals with those, also using my cuttlebug. The stamps are by studio g, and the ribbon is by offray.

February Birthday Cards

Quick post tonight, as I have been working on a fun ATC project for a Stamp Shack Swap (to be posted at a later time). These are a few of the February Birthday Cards I made for family and friends. I just love the fishing stamp for "manly" cards. I hadn't used it for a while, so I dug it out to do these quick cards. Again, I stuck mostly with the same basic layout and they all took about 10 minutes or less. For one of them, I used scraps from some of the others! No waste. Gotta love that. Stamps by studio g, Rubber Stampede, and imaginations!

Happy Birthday!

One of my challenges this year was to be on time with my birthday and holiday cards. Here are a few samples of some birthday cards I made - each only took 10 minutes or less!

I used my cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder to make the backgrounds. I attached a ribbon on the panel and then a piece of "card candy" that my bff Cindi gave me. That was all attached to a colored panel, which was attached to a white card. Inside is stamped "celebrate".

The blue cards are made the same way, only instead of flowers and frilly ribbon, I used a panel made with a calendar stamp I got at Judy's Scrappin' and Stampin'. Her suggestion was to circle the birthday and write in the year. I thought it was a great idea!
