I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. We did! We spent the day with my husband's family. We ate a delicious meal and ended the day by going to see the new Disney movie, TANGLED. This morning we woke to find a quiet, beautiful snow falling and it immediately put me in the Christmas Spirit. Since I am not much of a shopper, I decided to make an ornament for a swap I am in.
I started with some sparkly Coredinations papers in red and green. I used my Nesties Label One and cut out and embossed two red pieces and used my Scalloped Ovals and cut out and embossed two green pieces and one cream piece. I added two Prima Leaves to one of the green scallops and two red "dew drops" that I made from hot glue and alcohol inks. Click
HERE to see a video tutorial on how to make these yourself! They are very easy and fun to make. I stamped the sentiment on cream card stock and outlined the edges with a black bic mark it pen. I created the "tails" by just free hand cutting the shapes and outlining with the same marker. I pop dotted the sentiment for dimension and added the K&Company button brad for a splash of color.
I decided to decorate the back as well, since it would be hanging on a tree and might be seen. Before I layered the scallops, I stenciled the cream scallop with Broken China Distress Ink and wrote my message. I added another button brad (so it wouldn't hang crooked) and glued the front and back together. Lastly, I punched two holes in the corners and tied a silk cord for a hanger. Let me know what you think- and what ideas you have for making ornaments this year. Have a great weekend, and Happy Crafting!
